  • When Coconut Oil may not be right for you

    Monday, April 7, 2014 - 2:11am

While coconut is no doubt a healthy traditional food, what many do not realize is that it has the potential to negatively affect the skin. This potential occurs whether it is ingested or put on the skin directly. From what we know of the immune system, it is not adequately developed until the age of two. The foods we are exposed to in childhood, are usually foods that will be less problematic later in life as we have already developed the antibodies for our immune system to recognize these foods as safe.

What sleeping in your make-up does to your skin: Our shocking experiment exposes what happens when you don't cleanse before bed

Do you always take off your make-up before bed? Every night? Even after a glass of wine too many? Or when you've fallen asleep on the sofa? Or you simply couldn't muster the energy?

You're not alone. In a recent survey, a third of women questioned confessed to sleeping with their slap on at least twice a week.

  • What is your Acne telling you?

    Monday, March 17, 2014 - 3:00pm

I always knew that the once-monthly spots that overtook my chin were the result of not-so-stable hormones. However, when my dermatologist took one look at the sudden outcrop of angry zits on my nose and asked me to get my blood pressure checked, it introduced me to a whole new (actually old) science of face mapping, which is pretty much the key to unlocking the mysteries behind problem skin.

Benefits For Getting A Facial This Winter:

Despite the lack of sunshine, our skin receives no reprieve from the harsh UV rays over winter. This coupled with the drying effect of wind and the lack of humidity in the air can leave your skin irritated, scaly and sallow. A facial works to counteract these effects in three ways: by improving circulation, by providing deep cleansing, and by restoring moisture and hydration. A winter facial treatment which will not only leave you looking beautiful, but feeling great too.
