  • What actually causes wrinkles?

    Saturday, July 28, 2018 - 5:29am

Damage occurs to the collagen and elastin fibers in the reticular dermis over time. Expression lines are caused by a gradual “denting” of these fibers from repeated facial movements. Just like a piece of metal that is bent multiple times, the fibers become weaker and weaker and thinner in the area of the constant bend.

  • What is Skin Microbiome?

    Tuesday, May 22, 2018 - 6:52am

Like the gut, the skin has its own microbiome universe, a complex ecosystem of fungi, bacteria and archaea that serves as the foundation for healthy skin. Our skin's structure and function is absolutely essential to our general health. The skin microbiome, found at the surface of the skin, is your skin's first line of defense. The three elements of a healthy skin barrier are the skin microbiome, the acid mantle and the lipid barrier, which work in harmony to protect against irritants, environmental damage and infection.

  • What is diffused facial redness?

    Monday, April 23, 2018 - 8:43am

Facial redness can occur due to small, discrete, red blood vessels called Telangiectasia, these are more commonly referred to as broken capillaries. Diffuse redness most commonly affects the nose, forehead, and cheeks. Common causes include genetics, aging, hormonal changes, ultraviolet exposure, extreme climate changes or lifestyle factors. Diffuse redness is often associated with a condition called rosacea, diagnosis is typically between 35 and 55 years of age. Whilst there is no cure for Rosacea there are effective treatment options to control the condition.

    Monday, March 12, 2018 - 6:13pm

I see it all the time. Clients get stuck in a skincare time warp. For years they might have battled oily skin, dry or combination skin, but with the passing of time, their skin needs have changed.

One problem. They didn’t change their skincare routine. It’s just another sneaky way time has of tapping you on the shoulder. Not to worry. I’ve got you covered.

  • Did you know by the age of 40 we lose about 2% collagen a year?

    Friday, February 16, 2018 - 6:53am

  • 3X Brighter Than The Sun And It Won’t Burn Your Skin!

    Friday, January 12, 2018 - 7:19am

    Pretty amazing, huh?

LED light technology, the highly acclaimed and widely documented therapy, is actually 3X brighter than the sun when it’s applied to your skin. So why doesn’t it burn?

Because it uses low-level pulses of red and/or infrared lights to

activate skin cells, which is actually healing to your body!

  • What causes skin aging?

    Monday, January 1, 2018 - 7:53am

Skin aging is influenced by several factors, including genetics, environmental exposure, hormonal changes, and metabolic processes. In humans, structual and functional changes attributable to aging and more visibly evident in the skin than in any other organ.

    Intrinsic Factors

Intrinsic (internal factors) aging, or your natural aging process, begins appearing in your mid-20's:

  • Does Dimethicone clog pores and suffocate the skin?

    Friday, December 29, 2017 - 7:38am

Dimethicone is a non-greasy occlusive silicone based polymer that is a man-made synthetic molecule made up of repeating units called monomers. It also has been shown time and time again to be non-comedogenic, yet it provides a significant amount of emollience and coverage to the skin, without adding any heaviness.

  • Why Retinol is such a workhorse in your skin care regimen?

    Wednesday, December 6, 2017 - 4:28am

As we age our cycle of cell production slows down to about 45-60 days in our 40's and 50's and further slow down to 60-90 days in our 50's and 60's. Retinol is a vitamin A derivative that has been used for anti-aging and acne clients for years. Retinol stimulates the metabolism of skin cells and encourages collagen production. Retinol is much gentler when absorbed within the skin and it’s converted into tretinoin (the acid form of vitamin A, also known as retinoic acid).
