Most people will have hyperpigmentation on their skin by the time they reach their 30’s, this skin issue is very stubborn to treat but can be managed with the right skincare. Hyperpigmentation is a darkening of the skin due to an overproduction of melanin from skin cells called melanocytes. It can be brought on by various injuries to the skin, sundamage, trauma, hormones and inflammation. The excessive melanin produced gets dumped into the deeper levels of your skin, causing hyperpigmentation. These spots, when further exposed to sunlight, will flare up and worsen over time.
